The General Society

  The General Society includes all its active members. An annual meeting is held after  it is  approved by the Director General on condition that the majority of members be present. A meeting can also be held after that with the presence of 10% of the board members and an extraordinary meeting may also be held if the board and its members see it as necessary with 5 members attending.

The General Society specializes:

The General Society specializes in the following:

• Issuing guidelines (rules) for work flow within the society.
• Approval of the society’s annual budget and its annual end of the year statement.
• Approval of the Society's annual report
• To propose additional branches of the society as per recommendation of the board of directors .
• Appointing an external auditor for revision of the society’s accounts and determining of fees.
• Appointing board members
• A plan of action to be presented by the board of directors for approval.
• Relocating the society’s H/Q to a new location .
• Proposal to resolve the society.

Actions taken by the Saudi society of distance learning after its completion:

• Publicizing and development of long distance learning, assessment criteria and identifying  appropriate   methods for its implementation
• Development and assuming of specific acceptable criteria that should be abided by all specialists in distance learning.
• Development and implementation of distance learning programs and ensuring its commitment to professional standards issued by the society and legal bodies.
• Setting a standard for conduct and behavior which includes moral values and ethics that display the traits a member should have when in office and when dealing with co workers and clients and others.
• Organizing programs which ensure the development of the professional and especial the following programs :

·                  Special programs for those specialized in distance learning.

·                  Special workshops with specific themes.

• Establishing a comprehensive information center in accordance with the latest methods including books, research and bulletins which specialize in distance learning, and what is published by relevant bodies in countries around the world . The center also has a database of workers in the distance learning field.
• Preparing a professional bulletin and scientific magazine which specializes in spreading distance learning awareness.
• Organizing symposiums to spread distance learning awareness.

Honorary General President:

As per suggestion of the board of directors an honorary president is elected from amongst those known personalities whom support distance learning and he presides over meetings he attends.

The society’s resources and budget:

First : It mainly depends on its own resources , namely :

• Accumulated amounts contributed by members.
• Accumulated amounts of sales , like printed material , periodic bulletins and other services it offers within its goals.
• Income from workshop and programs.
• Gifts donations, scholarships and subsidies offered by universities, private or government organizations or individuals.

Second : the society’s budget and final statement of account.

·         The fiscal year begins and ends with the Universities fiscal year.

·         Final statement of account is prepared in accordance with labor rules.
